勤學勤謹不求譽　愛國愛家齊送暖

各位家長、同學：

光陰任苒，日月如梭，漫長的暑假又過去了，大家如何度過這個假期呢？你有否利用這段寶貴的時間來沉澱自己的思緒，定下新學年的目標呢？

今年學校的主題是「勤學勤謹不求譽 愛國愛家齊送暖」。有成就的人當然是具備了智慧、勇敢、勤奮、堅毅等要素，然而在他朝着成功之點出發前，他必先定立志向。古人說：「人無志，非人也。」就指出了明確的目標是將來有所成就的出發點。王守仁也說：「志不立，天下無可成之事。」所謂君子立長志，小人常立志，說明了志向是人奮發向前的明燈。

除了早立志向外，也要堅持不懈地學習，聖賢也說：「學而後知不足。」我們只有知不足而促使自己向上求進，而且有智慧的人才知道勤學的重要。老子曾說：「合抱之木，生於毫末；九層之台，起於累土；千里之行，始於足下。」說明了成功不是可以一蹴而就，而是從細微之處萌芽，必須依靠耐心和努力，這種智慧才可以一點一滴地積累。我希望各位同學在新學年能努力學習，而且不是為求別人的讚賞而努力。

油塘基顯小學全校教師也是持以這種學習精神來設計優質的教學計劃。今年，學與教是學校的發展重點。中文科重點發展寫作項目，希望學生在閱讀與寫作方面能互相配合，平衡發展。英文科仍會進行IELP的課程，並且針對課程的要求，設計有趣的學習活動，使全校學生的英語水平能不斷提升。數學科在本年度會參加教育局「校本支援計劃」，時限為三年，今年參加的年級為四年級。此外，為令同學養成良好的閱讀習慣，我們將積極推行早讀課，鼓勵同學多閱讀以文字為主，而主題又健康的書籍，並借此促進學習效能。圖書組亦會舉辦不同的閱讀活動，推動學校的閱讀氣氛。

另一方面，培養學生具備良好的品德也是我們致力發展的重點項目。德育及公民教育組將會舉辦一連串活動，訓練學生的承擔精神，希望他們除了重視自己的學業成績外，也能關心他人，把愛心和溫暖傳送到學校、社區，甚至祖國的每一角落。

新學年，新開始，大家從回起跑線上，向着自己的目標前進。也許，大家都聽過《龜兔賽跑》的故事，無論你選擇做烏龜或白兔，你們也要有堅毅忍耐的心，跑回終點。最後，送大家一句金句：「我只有一件事，就是忘記背後努力面前的，向着標竿直跑，要得神在基督耶穌裏從上面召我來得的獎賞。」（腓立比書3：13-14）「忘記背後努力面前」，就是叫我們凡事向遠看，向前看，只要我們不放棄，成就是近在咫尺的。更重要的是，我們應當感謝神，因為在衪的保守和看顧下，我們有着盼望，並勇往直前，為我們創建豐盛的人生。

邁向四十周年　　迎接二零零八

各位家長、同學：

去年的《青莘集》（第一冊）的扉頁印有以本校校名為每句詩歌開首的小詩：

油油涼風林壑青，塘沿碧綠人傑靈，

基礎穩建育才成，顯赫聞達頌名聲。

想來，這片小小的校園真是人傑地靈。去年，我們無論在文或是武方面，都取得輝煌的成績。這成果是由師生們的用心和奮發來建成的。在此，我真是感謝各位老師和同學。

去年，中文科參加了教育統籌局校外支援小組計劃，為四年級的中文科設計了以說帶寫的課程。學生在參與這個計劃後，說話和寫作能力都有提升。由於成績顯著，我們更得到教統局的邀請，在六月份參加該局舉辦的分享會。學生的傑出表現，得到在場人士的高度讚揚，這實在有賴同學們的專心學習，老師們的認真教導。今年，中文科更參加了內地教師交流計劃，我們期望與內地教育專家進行交流，不僅是為提升教師的教學技巧，也希望引進不同的教學方法，使同學們更有效的學習，更有興趣地學習。此外，由李煥蓮主任統籌，黃紹堅主任、劉可欣老師、蔡淑敏老師及楊潔純老師共同編寫了校本的「小一識字教學課程」。我們希望從小一開始，增加他們的識字量，讓他們大量識字，提升他們的閱讀能力。事實上，良好的學習基礎，正是進步的階梯。

英文科亦會針對課程的要求，設計一套適合小一的英文課程，我們希望學生自小培養良好的學習態度，寓學習於娛樂，使他們不會感到學習英文是一件困難的事情。

除了各科在課程上不斷革新外，我們也貫徹始終，帶領學生參加不同的交流活動。今年四月，我和七位教師帶領約三十多位學生到北京進行交流。我們得到北京西城區長安小學的師長和同學們的熱情招待，讓我們認識到北京的歷史、文化和學習情況。所謂「讀萬卷書，不如行萬里路」，在這五日四夜的旅程中，我們真是獲益良多，今次真是不枉此行。

今年暑假，五年級有兩位學生到北京參加「第二屆中少盃　全國中小學生作文大獎賽暨小作家走天下活動」，並取得銅獎，這實在是使人感到鼓舞的事情。由此可證明學生有一定的寫作能力，也表現了學習是不分疆界的。

最後，引用李嘉誠出席汕頭大學畢業禮中的獻詞來訓勉大家：「要做一個比成功更成功的人，擁有專長、技能、學歷、人際網絡或經驗只是基本功，更重要的是確立你與眾不同的特質和世界的角度。……你們要做個做夢者，也要做個腳踏實地的人。你們要結合現實理據和實際經驗來不斷測試和強化自己的夢想。」同學們，你們要發掘自己異於他人的特質，並藉?自己的才能來實現夢想。大家要緊記著：要實現夢想，就要用心去幹，空有夢想而不腳踏實地去努力，結果也是徒勞無功的。

齊賀一周年　　共享好時節

九月一日是一個特別的日子，除了是新學年的開始外，也是本校搬遷到油塘滿一周年的喜慶日子。過去一年，經過老師們的努力，學校喜見成績，在小一派位結果公佈當天，更有達幾百位學生報讀本校呢！然而，我們會繼續努力，希望在油塘區內建立名聲，為學生們提供優質的教育。 

剛過去的暑假，我到了浙江、南京及黃山等地進行文化交流活動。站在巍峨的黃山上，讓我深深感受到祖國的偉大，經過幾千年的變更，中國的經濟不斷發展、進步，漸漸在國際舞台上冒起。讓人感到欣喜的是，於二零零八年，北京將會舉行奧運會。中國能有今天的成就，有賴於中國人遇強越強，具備克苦、堅毅的精神。

同樣，油塘基顯小學的老師和學生都憑着百折不撓的精神，克服了重重困難，使任何問題都能迎刃而解。今年，我們成功申請優質教學基金，為語言室添置電腦，老師和同學在本學年便能於語言室進行教與學。此外，普通話教中文的計劃會推行至四年級，以及新學年會增加一位外籍教師。凡此種種，都是希望提升學生的語文能力。最重要是使教師能有效的教、學生能愉快的學。

我們曾承諾帶領學生衝出香港，面向世界，讓他們到其他國家進行不同的學習之旅，親身體驗異地文化，藉此拓闊視野。今年暑假，我們便實踐了這項承諾。七月二十至二十五日，劉可欣老師和蔡淑敏老師帶領五位五年級的學生到深圳，與來自台灣、澳門、深圳的中小學生三百多人進行六日五夜的文化交流。我們希望透過這些活動，加強學生的生活體驗，提升他們的獨立處事能力。往後，我們亦會舉辦同類的交流活動，建立無界限的課室，增加學生的學習層面。

事實上，能夠在這所設施完備的學校學習，真是一件賞心樂事的事情。有一首詩寫道：

「春有百花秋有月，夏有涼風冬有雪；

若無閒事掛心頭，便是人間好時節。」

我期盼教師和學生能在這所校園裏享受美好的時光，並能在這個好時節裏發揮你們的才能，能夠努力學習、愉快生活、健康成長，以做「油塘基顯人」為榮。

各位家長好！時光飛逝，猶記得二零零四年九月一日，聖公會小學監理委員會委派我從聖公會田灣始南小學到基顯小學出任總校長一職，以便策劃上午校及下午校分拆為兩間全日制小學。過去一年，我和基顯小學上午校的各位老師，群策群力、上下一心，為學校搬遷及轉為全日制作好準備。

踏入二零零五年九月一日，基顯上午校進入發展新里程。我們搬遷到佔地七萬五千呎、設備完善的油塘千禧校舍，並訂名為聖公會油塘基顯小學，實行全日制教育。這所昂然屹立於油塘區內的校舍，遠眺着東區海底隧道。學生在這一個理想的家園內，自能愉快地學習、健康地成長。 

承蒙家長的支持和愛護，學校今年由二十四班擴張至三十三班，部份學生更遠居於將軍澳和九龍灣區。我們能有這樣豐碩的成果，是有賴家長及各界的信任和肯定，使油塘基顯小學這一棵小幼苗，不斷茁壯地成長。

我感到很驕傲，因為油塘基顯小學除了是一所美輪美奐的校舍外，我們更擁有一支優秀的教師團隊。全體五十四名教師，全部已獲教育文憑，其中八成以上已取得或將取得學士或碩士學位，差不多所有教師已通過英文及普通話基準試。今年聘請的二十二位新教師，都擁有一定教學經驗，從不同的學校到來油塘基顯小學任教。他們與本校一班擁有豐富教學經驗的老師一同合作，以新思維、新的教學方法，帶領學生走向多元化的學習新園地，從而活學兩文兩語，活用資訊科技。

我們繼續秉承聖公會辦學之優良傳統及使命，以基督大愛為基礎，以及「三心兩意」的專業精神：愛心、關心、信心、誠意及願意，培養學生成為一個具備自主、自學、自律、勇於承擔、敢於創新、愛學校、愛香港、愛國家的好學生。就是基督說：「你們要多結果子，我父就因此得榮耀，你們也就是我的門徒了。」（約15：8）我們將基督的愛和話語放在學生的心田裡，就像一粒種子埋在他們心裡，好使他們能活出基督的生命，是充滿愛的生命。我盼望師生在這所愛心和歡欣滿載的學校，活出豐盛的人生；油塘基顯小學在油塘區的前途愈顯光明。就是達到六八基顯耀光輝，零五油塘展威勢。

1968 Built Its Base; 2005 Turns A New Page
(1 September 2005)

Dear Parents,

Time flies! Yet I still remember the day of 1^st September 2004 when I was transferred by the Personnel Committee of SKH Primary Schools’ Council from my previous school, SKH Tin Wan Chi Nam Primary School, to SKH Kei Hin Primary School to take up the position of Head Principal and to take charge of separating the AM and PM Schools into two whole-day primary schools. During the past year, the AM School’s teachers at all levels and I were of one mind and pooled all our wisdom and strength to prepare for the removal of the School and its conversion into a whole-day school.

Towards 1^st September 2005, Kei Hin Primary School (A.M.) embarked upon a new milestone in its development. The School was moved to our Yau Tong Y2K campus, which spans over a total of 75,000 sq. ft., and is fitted with excellent facilities. It was given the name SKH Yautong Kei Hin Primary School to implement whole-day education. The School stands towering in Yau Tong district and looks out over the Eastern Harbour Tunnel. Our pupils will surely learn happily and grow healthily in this ideal home.

Owing to your loving care and supports, the School expanded in the number of classes from 24 to 33 in 2005. Some pupils even come from a distance as far as Tseung Kwan O and Kowloon Bay districts. It is the parents and all other related people’s trust on and recognition of us that enabled Yautong Kei Hin Primary School to attain these plentiful achievements and to thrive from a seedling continuously.

I took pride in Yautong Kei Hin Primary School, which not only has a new, beautiful school campus, but also an excellent teaching team comprising 54 teachers. All of these 54 teachers have obtained education certificates/diplomas, and over 80% of them have obtained or will obtain a bachelor’s or master’s degree, and almost all of the teachers have passed the English Language or Putonghua Proficiency Benchmark Assessments. The 22 new teachers that we recruited this year all have substantial teaching experience and came from different schools. Based on innovative ideas and new teaching methods, they will work together with the very experienced teachers of the School to lead the pupils into the new world of multiple learning where they will actively do their bi-literary and trilingual studies and apply the information technology.

Pursuant to Sheng Kung Hui’s good tradition and mission of running schools and based on Christ’s love and the professional spirit of “San Xin Liang Yi” – Love, Care, Confidence, Sincerity and Willingness, we educate our pupils to become good pupils who keep the initiative in their own hands, study on their own, stay disciplined, have the courage to assume responsibilities, dare to innovate, and love the School, Hong Kong and China. As Jesus Christ said, “Here is my Father's glory, in that you give much fruit and so are my true disciples.” (John 15:8) We implanted in our pupils’ hearts Christ’s love and words, just like a seed buried in their hearts, to enable them to live up to Christ’s life, a life full of love. I whole-heartedly hope that both our teachers and pupils will lead a bountiful life in this school of love and joys, and also that Yautong Kei Hin Primary School will have an ever-brightening future in Yautong district. It will then meet exactly the expectation that Kei Hin emanated dazzling lights in 1968 and shows its strengths at Yautong in 2005.

迎接新挑戰  邁向新里程
(2004年9月1日)

        能夠接任基顯小學總校長一職，見證學校邁向新里程，本人實在感到與有榮焉。本人定當盡心盡力，秉承基顯優良的傳統，並引進全新的教育目標，成就二十一世紀卓越教育的理想。

      常言道教師是人類靈魂的工程師，而我深信校長便是帶領這班工程師的關鍵人物。身為校長，我會運用現代管理概念，加強老師之間的溝通和合作，並充分利用學校的配套，使教與學的效能得以顯著提昇。我亦會致力培育學生在德、智、體、群、美、靈以及多元智能方面的均衡發展，使他們健康地成長，成為一個有良知、有理想、有承擔的人。另外，家校合作也是不容忽視的一環。有了家長的協助和配合，基顯定能有更長足的發展，在此本人要感謝各位家長在過往及未來對學校的熱烈支持。學校和學生一樣，都像一株幼苗，需要大家悉心照料、灌溉、呵護，才能茁壯成長。老師認真教學、無微不至的關懷、學生用心聽講、盡力學習、職工盡忠職守、不辭勞苦的工作、家長親切的鼓勵和支持，都是這株植物的養料。這一切一切就像陽光和水份，溫暖和滋養著眾人的心。

        除此以外，特別令人鼓舞的，是本校上午校將於二○○五年度遷往油塘新校舍，開設三十六班，並全面推行全日制。這無疑是莘莘學子的一大喜訊。簇新的校園、優美的環境、完善的設施、良好的師資，自是理想校園的楷模，愉快學習的好地方。

     擺在我們面前的，是前所未有的挑戰。為了肩負起培育下一代的使命，我們必須與時並進，永不停步。老師持續進修、參與研討會、行動研究等，藉以提昇專業水平，已是大勢所趨。同時，盼望同學們也能積極裝備自己，靈活運用知識，日後回饋社會，創下一番成就。

  憑著各人的專業知識、經驗和信念，在此我立下宏願，盼能將新一代的教育質素推向高峰。在基督的帶領下，只要全校師生無私奉獻、群策群力、上下一心，基顯的前途必定愈見光明，就如基督之光顯於萬國一樣。期待每天看見老師、學生、家長及眾人嘴角綻放的笑容，便是我最大的心願。

A Stepping Stone Towards a New Challenge
(September 1, 2004)

When I took over the duty of chief Principal of S.K.H. Kei Hin Primary School, I really felt the glorious. I will do my best to continue the fine tradition of Kei Hin. I will introduce a brand-new education goal in order to achieve the educational ideals for the 21st century. As we all know, teachers act as human soul engineers, and I deeply believe that a ‘Principal’, as his essential character, is capable to lead this class of engineer. As Principal, I utilize a modern management concept, strengthened between teacher's communication and cooperation. To make full use of school assets, enable teaching and learning to reach its full potential. I also devote myself to cultivate the students giving them an all rounded education, with a passion for moral, cognitive, physical, social, aesthetic and spiritual growth. This along with intelligence will balance their development, causing students to grow healthily, to become an individual with a conscience, the ideals, and willingness to undertake responsibility. Moreover, family and school cooperation is an asset not to neglect. With the parents’ assistance and coordination, the school can surely develop considerably. I have to thanks all fellow parents for their participation in the past as well as their support in the future.  The school and the students are the same, like a seedling, we need everybody to take good care of the irrigation and protection so that they can grow healthy and strong. Good and earnest teaching means students listen and studies attentively. Loyal staff and parental encouragement become nourishment for the children.

We all look forward to the morning section of Kei Hin moving to Yau Tong and settling in a new school building in 2005. It will open 36 classes, and comprehensively will carry out a full-time schedule. It is without doubt excellent news. The brand new campus with an exquisite environment, brand new facilities along with experienced and qualified teachers form the ideal campus model. It will be a happy place for study.

In front of us is an unprecedented challenge. In order to shoulder the cultivation of our mission for the next generation, we must advance ourselves from time to time, without pausing. Teachers must continue to take advanced courses, participate in seminars, undergo action research and so on, so as to maintain a certain level of excellence. At the same time, I hope that our students can positively equip themselves, utilize their knowledge, so that they can work for society and create great achievements in the future.

Together with our specialized knowledge, experience and faith, we are capable of establishing our great aspirations of enhancing the quality of education for our students.  We possess the confidence to promote our new generation of education to the highest. Under Christ’s leadership, the one mind of the teachers and students, the school can surely see the light in the future, like the light of Christ reveals in unison. I wait with anticipation to see the teachers, students and parents smile everyday. This is my biggest wish.
